Cycling training camp Croatia - April, 14th-19th & October 20th-25th 2019
Discover the newest cycling getaway destination in Europe. Join us for a cycling training camp on the island Hvar, located in the center of the Dalmatian coast. With an annual average of 7.7 hours of sunshine per day, it is the sunniest island in the Adriatic.
Together with Mijo Bebic, who is a nutrition adviser and one of Croatia’s top cyclists and triathletes, we have created a bike camp for you in one of the most spectacular regions of Europe. Get your legs ready for the cycling season, work on your cycling technique and get the latest nutrition advices. Bring your (non-cycling) partner with you, who can enjoy the sun, easy walking/hiking and cultural sightseeing of ancient Greek, Roman and Venetian architecture and their influence molded perfectly in one of the most beautiful areas in Europe, which proudly markets itself as the “Mediterranean as it once was”.
All of the riding on this trip is supported! Mechanical assistance as well as a support vehicle, offering daily refreshments, snacks, water and carrying your clothes, are included.
Leave Croatia stronger and re-charged, with a clear vision how to continue training and stretching and optimize your nutrition.
Mijo was born in Split in 1978. In his childhood he was active in rowing and was actually in the rowing champion team of Croatia couple of times. He graduated from Maritime High School in Split and began his maritime nautical studies at Maritime University to become a nautical officer, but although he truly likes and enjoys the sea, he never went to work on the big ships, because his interests and dedication to sport led him to some different shores. And so his ”cruises” continued, still keeping him constantly on the move – swimming, biking, running – and dedicating himself to triathlon, firstly just on a recreational basis which later led to competing in national and international races. He is also a licensed spinning instructor, personal trainer, group trainings leader and nutrition adviser. When not training or working, Mijo really enjoys playing Picigin – a traditional game played exclusively on sandy Bačvice beach in Split (The goal of this game is to impress the watchers by keeping the ball dry while doing crazy stunts in shallow water. The Picigin World Championship takes part each year in June, so if you are lucky to be here, you might see him at his best).
Mijo’s philosophy is - Give everything you have, take just what you need!
Day 1 – Arrival day
Welcome to Croatia and the island Hvar, the pearl of all Dalmatian islands.Time permitting, we will have a bike fitting and stretching session before dinner tonight, which will be a great chance to meet the other participants and our camp leaders.

Day 2 – Bike fitting and “cultural” bike ride along UNESCO fields
Following a leisure breakfast, we set off for 2-3 hours of an easy and picturesque bike ride. The ride today will go through and around the UNESCO site of Stari Grad, an ancient Greek colony dating back to 400 BC. Following the ride we will discover the city itself while dinning on one of the few charming squares of Stari Grad. Spend the afternoon on one of the most beautiful squares of the Mediterranean and get into the “pomalo” Dalmatian lifestyle, enjoy a hike to the ancient fortress “Spanjola” or join Mijo for Pilates and a stretching session.
Activity: 2-3 hour easy to moderate bike ride,
Optional: afternoon Pilates and stretching session
Meals: breakfast, lunch
Day 3 – Discover lavender fields of Hvar on “a more serious” bike ride
Today we will leave Hvar town on a bike. The ride includes our first proper climb that passes along the abandoned villages of Brusje and Grablje, the ancient lavender road and down to the northern side of the island. From there you can choose to either return by van or ride back along the same road. This afternoon decide whether you feel like relaxing your legs while hiking along lavender fields and olive groves, enjoying the hotel’s SPA or chilling in the town…
Activity: 3-4 hour moderate bike ride
Optional: afternoon hiking tour
Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 4 - Race specific day
Following the work on the technique in the previous days, we will, after a warm-up ride, set up a “race” for you.
Following the “race” we will immerse in the local culture as we treat ourselves with a traditional Dalmatian lunch in a local Konoba (Tavern). The afternoon is at your disposal in Hvar, before we get together again for dinner.
Activity: 2-3 hours biking
Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 5 - Two islands bike ride - super challenge
For your last day we will set off for a proper bike touring adventure. Warm your legs while pedaling on the island Hvar before a boat cruise to the island Brač, the biggest (and highest) of central Dalmatian islands. Once our legs are on firm ground of the island Brač, we will enjoy an ascent to the 778 meters high peak – Vidova Gora. The peak will reward you for the climb by providing breathtaking views of the central Dalmatian archipelago.
Activity: bike ride (5-6h)

Dan 6 - Farewell
Your tour ends today after breakfast. Depending on your flight and onward travel, you can spend some time in the city of Split, discover the 1700-years-old Diocletian’s Palace and enjoy a coffee at the seafront overlooking the busy port and the islands in the distance.
