General questions

We are developing and leading this kind of tours for 15+ years. Our company and team constantly seek to exceed customer’s expectations; in terms of our service and the service provided! This is our passion and our work, which we do on professional level. Most of us are from Croatia (slowly we are “spreading” to Italy, Slovenia and Spain/Mallorca) so does anyone know these areas better than ourselves?  Meridien Ten is striving to provide unique local experience, carefree holidays and provide our travellers with memories from Croatia that will last forever and hopefully make a world a better place.

After we have discussed and confirmed type of the room and travel dates, we charge deposit fee as confirmation.  Options for the payment: We can send you the link for the online payment, you can make the bank transfer, or we can charge your CC. The rest of the payment should be done 30 days prior to tour start.

The best time for a Croatia bike tour is May, June, September, and October, when temperatures are warm (22 to 28°C) but not extreme, and the Adriatic coast is quieter than peak summer. July and August are hot and crowded, better suited for beach-focused itineraries, which can fit well with our bike and sail itineraries and optional e-bikes (both e-hybrid and e-road bikes). We, in Dalmatia, cycle all year long. We will not go out when we have cold winds with rain, but if you are looking for a long weekend break check our Split based self guided bike tour, you are based in 2nd largest city in Croatia (which is charming and very laidback in the wintertime) and depart daily for cycling on different islands.

Yes-Croatia is considered one of Europe’s top emerging cycling destinations, offering a mix of coastal roads, island hopping by ferry or private boat, Roman and Venetian old towns, great Mediterranean gastronomy and quiet countryside routes through Dalmatia and Istria. As per Cycle Tourism Index 2026, which is Italian cycling research group (Bikenomist and route platform Komoot) the highest ranking received Croatia. Next to Canary Islands, Mallorca, Tuscany this is quite impressive. This does not mean Croatia has great cycle dedicated lanes, but that’s another of Meridien Ten’s project which will hopefully happen sooner than later.

The Dalmatian coast (between Split and Dubrovnik) is considered Croatia’s best cycling region, combining smooth coastal roads and island-hopping to Brač, Hvar, Korčula, and the Pelješac Peninsula by ferry. Istria, in Croatia’s north, is another great cycling destination, known for hilltop towns, vineyards, and the Parenzana trail. Both regions have really developed tourist infrastructure, meaning you will find different types/levels of hotels and restaurants. For those who are more adventurous and don’t care so much about level of accommodation; inland of Dalmatia (Area of Vrgorac, Sinj, Trilj), Velebit mountain range with Lika and Gorski Kotar are less tourism orientated/dependant meaning you will really find authentic life and beautiful nature.

We design most of our Croatian bike tours  to be suitable for recreational cyclists who ride regularly, covering 30–60 km per day with e-bike upgrade options available for hillier tour and those who feel like that. Both our guided and self-guided tours have options for road bikes, less or more biking so we try to cater for every possible cyclist on the planet.

Guided bike tour includes one or two tour leaders riding with the group, a support van, organized dining experiences and proper local insight.  A self-guided tour gives travellers more flexibly and freedom. All the logistics are taken care of; you will receive a GPS route navigation, luggage transfers, ferry and private boat transportation and pre-booked hotels, but they cycle at their own pace without a guide present.

No. Most Croatia bike tour operators, including Meridien Ten, design routes for recreational riders with regular but not advanced fitness. E-bike upgrades are available and options for shorter or longer rides.

Practical questions

90% of our bike tour packages include a quality rental bike (road, hybrid, tandem) in the price. If it is specific e-bike tour then e-bike is included in the package, otherwise e-hybrid or e-road bikes are available for the supplement. Experienced cyclists can bring their own bike or request a premium carbon upgrade for an additional fee. We have great collaboration with BMC bikes so you will find top of the line carbon road bikes with us.

We do have SPD, SPD-SL and LOOK KEO pedals available. Shoes – you will have to bring your own. We do provide helmets but always suggest bringing your own for the best fit. We have various types of seats and mirrors, and we can mount them if you advise us early enough. But some people prefer their own seats and mirrors and if you bring them, we will help you mount them so you can use them during the bike tour.

Typical inclusions for all tours are accommodation, daily breakfast, bike rental, GPS navigation and/or a digital guide and all the transportation for you, bikes and your luggage.

There is a big difference between guided and self-guided tours; on guided tours there will be van support, meals and similar events in special venues all accompanied with the guides. Flights and travel insurance are not included.

The safest and most picturesque route is along the islands Brač, Hvar, and Korčula before finishing in Dubrovnik. The Split to Dubrovnik cycling route typically takes 6–8 days, combining coastal roads with private boat or ferry/catamaran transfers to the islands. Meridien Ten pioneered this route format in 2001–2002, being the first operator to include private boat and island transfers on this itinerary.
Other option is roads inland of Croatia and eventually Bosnia and Herzegovina (check Ćiro Trail). We don’t provide organized tours along this route so this is for those who prefer bike packing and carrying their own items in panniers.  Our sister company Bike Rental Croatia can provide great bikes, and they can even move your big suitcases, so they wait for you in Dobrovnik.

We don’t suggest coastal road from Split to Dubrovnik, especially from April till October, this road is full of trucks, buses, car rental drivers, people…

In general, yes. Croatia’s coastal secondary roads (used by most bike tour operators) have low traffic density outside major towns. Islands have quite roads even in the summer, except when there is car ferry arrival/departure. However, it is important to mention locals who spent at least 40-50 years driving their cars to their fields are still not used to group of cyclists taking the whole road and leaving no space to overtake them. Drivers are still not used to drive 15 to 20 km/h for longer period of time. Therefore, we suggest riding always in single line, and if it is big group you are with, break the group in few smaller and make distance between you. This allows driver to slowly overtake each group… Hopefully this will change soon as well..

Split Airport (SPU), Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) and Zagreb Airport (ZAG) are the most common arrival point for Croatia. Zagreb Airport (ZAG) suits tours including Istria routes.

Croatia offers a less crowded and affordable alternative to Italy or France’s cycling regions. The island-hopping routes are another added advantage: combining cycling with boat/ferry transfers — a format not commonly available in most European cycling destinations. Each island is unique and special, so you should plan to visit and discover them. But hey, it is great to travel, so you should visit all these countries.

Croatia bike tour prices typically range from €1,000 for budget self-guided options with cheaper bed and breakfast accommodation, ferry transportation, and no luggage shuttles, to €5,000+ for premium fully-guided tours with boutique accommodation, exclusive dining venues with a top-of-the-line wine selection, and guide/van support. Mid-range self-guided tours average €1,800–2,500, while mid-range/premium guided tours average €2,800–4,000.

Hotels in Croatia make a huge difference — one overnight in a luxury 5* hotel can cost €2,000 for a double room, while on the same date you could stay in a bed and breakfast for €100.

Our tours are priced mid-range. We provide all the services needed to give our guests the best possible experience, so we don’t cut services just to bring the final price down.

The Dalmatian coast and islands have limestone topography, and the terrain is not the easiest for wine production. The vineyards here are small, often on terrain reachable only by hand and not by machine. This is why the same quality of wine costs up to 5x more in Croatia than in Spain. Croatia entered the world of quality wine production after our last war, in the late ’90s, and has been doing well with quality wine production ever since.

The Split to Dubrovnik island route is widely regarded as Croatia’s best bike tour itinerary, combining cycling on Brač, Hvar, and Korčula with boat transfers between islands and a finish in Dubrovnik’s old town. This route is our bestseller and signature tour – it was Meridien Ten who developed first self-guided tour in Croatia more than 25 years ago, and it was exactly this tour.

Families, groups and special requests

Yes, most bike tour operators run both small group departures and specifically family departures. Typically group size is 8 to 16 guests suites to couples and solo travelers. Meridien Ten has max of 14 guests on our regular guided bike tours. For private groups and requests we can accommodate bigger groups but then we will increase number of support vehicles and guides. Self-guided tours are mostly run for couples, departing at dates they prefer.

Many operators, including Meridien Ten, offer non-biking or “sag wagon” options where a non-cycling companion can join the support van and meet the group at each stop, making mixed ability travel possible.

Besides your regular outfit for the evenings, you need toiletries, at least 2 pairs of padded cycling shorts, a lightweight rain jacket (May, September, October, November), sunscreen and hat. Don’t forget comfortable walking shoes for the evenings in town. Most operators provide helmets and repair kits, but personal cycling shoes and seat are worth bringing if you have a preferred setup.

Meridien Ten provides various types of seats as well as LOOK KEO, SPD and SPD SL pedals. We also provide cycling water bottle and T-shirt. Bike jerseys are available for a small cost.
